Have you heard of an Actress named Betty White? Well if your under the age of thirty I’m not surprised but if your over the age of thirty I am really surpised because Betty White is an 88 year old actress who has spent almost 80 years working in the TV and Movie industry.
She has starred in such famous shows as Mary Tyler Moore the long running Golden Girls and she also played a quirky and likable nutty legal Assistant in Boston Legal. As of recent she received some additional attention for starring in a humorous superbowl commercial that received viral video status on the web.
Well a few weeks a ago a fan of Betty Whites created a Fan Page titled “ Betty White to host SNL (Please?)” and within a couple of months attracted over half a million members to sign up. Wow! As cool as that is, what’s cooler is that Lorne Micheals the Producer of Saturday Night Live announced just last week that Betty white WILL be hosting SNL on May 8th as a result of the Facebook and additional twitter campaigns.
It just goes to show you the power of Social Media and networking. Betty White writes: “Thanks to the Internet, I’m hosting ‘Saturday Night Live.”
As I write in my book The Amazing Millionaire Formula it really is all about the Network you build and the like minded people that you attract to you simply by sharing your interests and passions. As for that person that started this whole campaign? Well it’s a 29 year old guy named David Matthews from Texas who started this whole grassroots campaign back in January on a dare. Little did he know the impact it would have.
