When it comes to Mother’s Day, most adult children consider it a chore rather than a blessing. Reason being the “what have you done for me lately” isn’t more prominent than when you’ve become a parent yourself. In my case usually an ecard or a quick call to Mom on her special day will suffice. But this year is different for me.
That’s because this just happens to be the first year that my wife qualifies for the Mother’s day prize since we are the proud and happy new parents of a 5 month old baby boy. Despite the fact that we are both new at this parenting thing my wife has hit motherhood head on. Her dedication, commitment and patience have been something not only to be respected but also recognized. Although the quintessential bouquet of Flowers would be an ok choice as a Mothers Day gift for her, flowers die and sometimes they die quickly. Not to mention they can be very expensive. Not so suitable in these tight budget times. So here’s a thrifty alternative. I have created a list for husbands like me who really want to show their appreciation without breaking the bank.
After some careful and exhaustive research here are my top five thrifty choices for Mother’s Day Gift ideas,from the heart.
5. Coupons, Coupons and More Coupons.
The homemade coupon book has long been made fun of and who could blame them. Why would you need a coupon to redeem a backrub from a loved one. Just ask for it right? Wrong! Although this may seem quite hokey, put into the right hands this could be a brilliant and ingenious gift. Besides I think most mothers like hokey. So instead of a backrub how about you offer her a date night, complete top to bottom house cleaning or a night out with her gal pals while you stay at home to watch the kids? It’s the gift that keeps on giving. But be forewarned guys, don’t offer a coupon for anything you wouldn’t be willing to do 2, 3 or even 10 months from now because although we have a tendency of forgetting things, they never do.
4. What’s that one thing she’s been trying to get you to do around the home?
Perhaps it’s put up shelving, cleaning out the garage, installing that new water filter. What ever it is, DO IT! In many cases something like this will score you bigger points and really show your appreciation 10 times more than a dinner out. Remember they nag about those things for a reason and that reason is because they want it done. So go ahead and bite the bullet. She’ll love you for it.
3. Make a tribute Video and post it on youtube.
This is 2010 guys so why not get creative? Grab that camcorder and do something cool and sweet. Perhaps you can interview her friends and family and have them all say what an awesome Mother she is. Or you can do a “this is your life” retrospective using some old pictures of her. If your not one for editing, no problem. You can either hire someone locally from craigslist, use a friend or check out animoto.com. You can get a whole video made with graphics, music and everything for free. Just upload any video, pictures or text you want in the order you choose and the animoto softwareputs it all together for you with some professional looking pizzazz.
2. Do what SHE wants for a change!
So often guys force their own wants and interests on their wives when it comes to planning couples activities. Does your wife really want to spend Sunday at the hockey hall of fame? Think outside of the box and surprise the heck out of her by planning to do something she would enjoy but that you would never normally be caught doing. Like a bike ride in the country, a picnic in the park or a night at the symphony. At first it might seem lame but remember this is for her, so suck it up for a couple of hours. FYI most symphonies and musical theatres offer highly discounted last minute ticket deals on certain nights. Shop or ask around for a good bargain. Craigslist or ebay is always a great place to start.
1. Tell her how much you appreciate her and what an amazing job she’s doing.
Most often it’s the simplest things that mean the most to us and telling your wife eye to eye how much she means to you and what an awesome job she’s doing is a 100 times more precious than any superficial token ever could. These expressions of thanks and gratitude shouldn’t just be reserved for Mother’s day but should be an ongoing practice all year around. Just think for a moment what life would be like without her and tell her how lucky you to have found such an amazing wife and how lucky your kids are to have such an amazing mother.

Danger lies in our ability to generate automatic, negative thoughts. And, talking ourselves out of the same things on a frequent basis only heightens this ability which is why some of us are so good at perpetuating bad actions. Just imagine all the bigger,more profound opportunities you’ve been spinning yourself away from…
Grab a blank sheet of paper. Now it’s your turn. Think of an idea or a goal you had recently but never accomplished.
“It was my goal to:_______________________________________”
Next, give some thought to all the excuses you had for not following through, and write them down.
“I never accomplished my goal because / because I was afraid of:
_________________________________________________________
__________________________________________________________
Please stop reading and do this now. Come on; answer honestly, regardless of how silly it sounds. Your participation here is solely for your benefit. Don’t let your fear of being honest about your fears stop you!
This exercise is a crucial part to putting The Amazing Millionaire Formula to work for you. So go ahead.
Now look at the list of excuses you wrote down. Chances are, you either agree with the fact that these excuses were what prevented you from accomplishing your goal, or you disagree completely.
If you agree with your excuses, think back to your pro evaluation list to reconnect with the reasons why the goal was such a good idea in the first place. Then come back to the list you just completed to determine if your excuses are still valid.
If you, however, realize now that these excuses really had no validity and had not contributed to your failure of achieving your goal, then you are likely seeing through the deceptiveness of your own mind.
And that’s great!
And so, for each excuse that you wrote down, read it out loud, and then respond to it with: “This is just a fear-based excuse and a lie.”
Go ahead. It may sound silly, but it’s actually a very practical exercise. Repeating your excuses out loud releases them into the Universe. This exercise will help you release your fears with a surprisingly beneficial outcome. Go ahead. Have fun with it!
When you’re done, crumple up that piece of paper and throw it out. And, make a commitment to stop lying to yourself by being conscious of when your mind starts feeding you fear-based excuses.
These excuses can only be one of a few: fear of failure, fear of rejection, or fear of humiliation – so they’re really easy to spot.

The Law of Polarity states if something bad happens in your life, deep down, there has to be something good about it, like a lesson learned.

So does this mean that you should hope for big roadblocks in order to get a bigger payoff ? Of course not. Remember, we attract what we think; our thoughts become our words, and our words become our actions. The person, who has learned how to handle roadblocks and knock-backs by remaining calm and deciding on a course of action to deal with them, is the person who experiences many successes in life because they are always moving forward.
It’s the Universe working with you to give you everything you desire. It’s just the way it works. The same applies when your plans fail half-way down the road. The Universe gives you what you need to get there, and yes, usually in the form of a roadblock, so you can rejuvenate your plan by adding those key ingredients that you may have missed before. And you’ll see, what you get out of it will be in direct relation to what you put in.
Running a successful business or knowing the correct way to handle large amounts of money takes a lot of responsibility, and everyone has to learn their way to the top. It’s just like school. We all started out in Kindergarten. We first had to learn the letters of the alphabet before we could get to Grade One, where we learned how to read and write our first words. Then on to Grade Two where… well, I’m sure you see what I’m building up to, so no need for me to spell it out.
What I will say is that learning the alphabet was the first step towards a series of greater achievements; and the same can be said in applying The Amazing Millionaire Formula in its entirety; where your mission is to advance to the next level of the process by successfully completing the one before it in order to earn your millionaire “diploma” and be recognized as an alumnus of the Millionaire Master’s Club.

Have you heard of an Actress named Betty White? Well if your under the age of thirty I’m not surprised but if your over the age of thirty I am really surpised because Betty White is an 88 year old actress who has spent almost 80 years working in the TV and Movie industry.
She has starred in such famous shows as Mary Tyler Moore the long running Golden Girls and she also played a quirky and likable nutty legal Assistant in Boston Legal. As of recent she received some additional attention for starring in a humorous superbowl commercial that received viral video status on the web.
Well a few weeks a ago a fan of Betty Whites created a Fan Page titled “ Betty White to host SNL (Please?)” and within a couple of months attracted over half a million members to sign up. Wow! As cool as that is, what’s cooler is that Lorne Micheals the Producer of Saturday Night Live announced just last week that Betty white WILL be hosting SNL on May 8th as a result of the Facebook and additional twitter campaigns.
It just goes to show you the power of Social Media and networking. Betty White writes: “Thanks to the Internet, I’m hosting ‘Saturday Night Live.”

Although all lies are criminal, lying to ourselves is the biggest crime of all. We are all spiritual beings and by lying, we tarnish our souls and prevent ourselves from discovering our true purpose in life. In fact, lying to ourselves is what prevents us from overcoming our personal constraints and achieving greatness since real success can only be achieved in truth, and of course, in taking responsibility for our own lives.
Stop making excuses and lying to yourself and to others about who you think you are and the things you plan to do. Embrace humility in admitting that you’re not as perfect as you think you are. Don’t be afraid to reveal your true self and show your vulnerability. People are naturally attracted to others who are genuine, no matter how vulnerable they may appear.
But this isn’t about placing labels on yourself. It’s about discovering the truth about yourself and being comfortable with your true character. It’s also about you following through with what you say you’re going to do. Only then can you begin to turn your dreams into reality.
For the next five days try not to tell a lie. Neither to yourself nor to anyone else. Be aware of every one of your interactions and you’ll be amazed to learn how many little lies you tell throughout the day. Also keep in mind that every time you don’t do something that you say you’re going to do, that’s a lie. Even if you promise to meet someone at 4:00 but don’t show up until 4:05, congratulations, you’re a liar.
Successful people keep their word. When they speak, people listen because they know what that person says is the truth and they almost always do what they say they’re going to do. Notice the people in your life that never follow through on anything. These are the same people that let you down time and time again. They are also the same people that are all talk but very little action.
Also notice what a mess their lives always seem to be and how they always blame others for their failures. They never seem to take responsibility and they are always quick with some sort of excuse. Little do they know that as long as they continue telling these lies they will never become successful – at anything.

The one question I always ask my clients is:
“Why aren’t you a millionaire?”
The answers almost always come back the same: “Because I don’t have a very good education… I didn’t start early enough in life… I came from a middle or low income background… I didn’t have any good opportunities growing up… I don’t have enough money to start something big… I’m not a risk taker…” Or my personal favorite: “I’m just not a lucky person.”

Nor are they famous actors,musicians or athletes who ‘caught a break’. Most would describe themselves as average students, many of whom had fewer opportunities in life than others. They came from modest backgrounds and earned their wealth through nothing more than desire, hard work, discipline and perseverance. These ‘rags to riches’ groups are the same people that make up the bulk of the millionaire population living in North America today.
They do not live in big fancy homes in upscale neighborhoods. They do not drive expensive, imported cars; wear flashy jewelry or designer labels. By focusing your efforts on giving other people what they want you can gain a tremendous amount of clicks and in turn get exactly what you want. And, this principle applies to your professional and your personal life as well.
Your goal is to become savvy in gaining big clicks in every aspect of your life because the pay off is your happiness, success and prosperity.
Clicks are one of the very first forms of communication which we start to learn as infants. All of us as infants came to learn that good actions lead to praise and reward. In fact, parents and infants are on completely different levels in their ability to communicate and so clicks can be used in everyday learning development exercises.
Body language, vocal tone and pitch play a major part in rearing young children.
Experts recommend using “strokes” and rewards when attempting to potty train a toddler. These strokes are the same as high praise, which is also a click! Initially this may take a while but once the child uses the potty successfully for the first time, a celebration of cheering and clapping follows and maybe even a tasty cookie. This method very quickly changes the child’s attitude towards using the potty. Before the click and the reward, the child sees no benefit to having to use the potty. To toddlers, the whole process can be confusing, or even frightening.
Clicks allow the child to associate the potty with something positive and therefore something they can stick with in order to earn more clicks.
By kindergarten, kids can’t wait to show off their artwork to their parents. It may be a crayon scribble or some macaroni glued to a piece of paper, but as parents we respond as though it was a masterpiece. And we do this because we understand the importance of encouragement and positive clicks in the development of our children.
As adults we tend to lose the high praise when communicating with our peers or significant others. Our levels of acceptability change and we forget that we as adults need just as much encouragement as our young selves.
